America’s Toothfairy®
…because every child deserves a healthy smile.
History
In an aggressive response to the #1 chronic childhood illness in America, the National Children’s Oral Health Foundation (NCOHF) was launched in 2006 to address the extremely high incidence of painful, debilitating pediatric dental disease in underserved populations and the enormous societal costs that result. NCOHF supports a network of community-based comprehensive programs for underserved children delivering the best approaches to eliminate dental disease, optimize oral health, reduce student absenteeism, and enhance quality of life and family productivity.
With its integrated approach of connecting oral health with systemic health, NCOHF quickly attracted the support of industry leaders, civic-minded corporations, and philanthropic organizations and individuals. Through the power of its mission and quality and efficiency of its operations, NCOHF assembled an exemplary Scientific Advisory Board and Board of Directors comprised of health and business leaders committed to solving this childhood health crisis.
In 2008, NCOHF underwent a re-branding to NCOHF: America’s ToothFairy®, reflecting its role (and that of the beloved toothfairy) as an EDUCATOR about the oral health crisis in America, PREVENTER of pediatric dental disease and PROTECTOR of our most vulnerable children.
The NCOHF Affiliate network now includes more than 70 partners providing the very best comprehensive care to at-risk children in 26 states, Washington DC and Puerto Rico. This network continues to expand and provide viable, community-based solutions to a global epidemic. In just five years, NCOHF Affiliates have reached more than 1 million children with vital preventive, restorative and educational oral health services.
