Take Action to Expand Children's Access to Water in School
As a preventer of pediatric dental disease and protector of children's overall health and well-being, America's ToothFairy: National Children's Oral Health Foundation® is actively supporting a growing local and national effort to make water the beverage of choice for schoolchildren.
By increasing access to water for children in school and in childcare and encouraging consumption of water instead of sugar-sweetened beverages, children will have the essential resource they need for the early establishment of healthy behaviors that improve oral health and overall systemic health. Collaborating with the University of California's Nutrition Policy Institute and the Food Research and Action Center as the voice of children's oral health, America's ToothFairy encourages its partners, concerned organizations and all caring individuals to call for vigorous government and community action to promote optimal children's health by making sure that children can satisfy their thirst with water, the drink of the ToothFairy, as part of their breakfast and lunch at school each and every day.
Take action today by submitting comments to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), encouraging them to strengthen the language about drinking water in the 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, add water to their MyPlate symbol, and strengthen their Child and Adult Care Food Program rule on drinking water.
