With grant funding for our Orange County and Los Angeles Oral Health Zones, America’s ToothFairy recently completed an educational media campaign focused on Latino families in Southern California. Centering around National Hygiene Month (October) and Halloween, the campaign worked to raise awareness of the importance of oral health, provide tips for good oral hygiene and connect local families to Oral Health Zone resources.
The campaign, which earned more than 6.4 million positive impressions, focused on popular Spanish parent and lifestyle blogs, newspapers, television and radio outlets. Highlights included:
- 2-minute segment on Telemundo 52, a top Spanish-language TV station
- Oral health articles shared on El Diario NY, La Opinion, and La Raza
- Interviews conducted with NCOHF’s Los Angeles Oral Health Zone Manager, Matilde Gabriela, aired on Hermosa 1470 AM and Que Buena 96.1 FM.
- Top Latin bloggers and influencers including Dulce Tejeda, Sonia Castañeda and the López sisters shared oral health tips for a smile-friendly Halloween with their followers.
The goal of the campaign was to remind parents, particularly moms, about the importance of monitoring their children’s health and practical tips to keep their children healthy.
Our Dental Resource Program partner and 2017 America’s ToothFairy Dental Clinic of the Year, Kids’ Community Dental Clinic (KCDC), collaborated with America’s ToothFairy on the project including the Telemundo segment, hosting the film team at their clinic. “We are so pleased that we could be a part of this exciting learning opportunity to be in front of the press,” said Dale Gorman, Executive Director of KCDC. Ana Gomez, RDA, Programs Administrator for KCDC, served as a spokesperson for the program, sharing dental tips for moms and families.
