Boston, Oral Health Zone

The Boston Regional Oral Health Zone is in the process of forming with a planning gift from the Wirth-Myers Family Fund. This zone aims to link at- risk children with safety net clinics and volunteer health professionals for preventive care and treatment. Students from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and other community partners including the National Association of School Nurses, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, HOSA: Future Health Professionals, US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and Girl Scout troops and councils to reach Boston area families with vital education and treatment.

Goals of the OHZ include:

  • Expanding access to care and preventive services
  • Elevating oral health literacy among pregnant mothers, children, teens and their caregivers through outreach and education
  • Engaging a variety of partners including civic organizations, government agencies, businesses, educators, students, faith-based organizations, and healthcare providers to increase access to care for at-risk populations and support service delivery
