North Dakota Oral Health Zone

North Dakota Oral Health ZoneDesigned to improve oral health awareness, education and care for children in North Dakota, America’s ToothFairy launched the North Dakota Oral Health Zone in fall 2014. With the support of the North Dakota Department of Health and the North Dakota Oral Health Coalition, health professionals, community health workers, paramedics, school nurses, college students and public health officials have joined the movement as volunteer educators, helping to establish a more robust children’s oral health focus across the state.

North Dakota Oral Health Zone Goals

  • To engage youth mentors, college students, health professionals, educators, parents and caregivers in educating vulnerable populations and the community at large on the importance of a healthy smile
  • To work in collaboration with schools, communities, and health professionals to prevent and, in the longer-term, reduce dental disease for North Dakota children, especially among uninsured and underserved children, who are disproportionately impacted by poor oral health
  • To provide preventive services and create opportunities to establish a dental home for vulnerable children through implementation of America’s ToothFairy volunteer professional and student programs
  • To enhance understanding of oral disease as a significant public health issue among North Dakota residents
