Our History

America's ToothFairy history - Children's Dental ServicesIn 2000, the Surgeon General issued a national call to action to address the “silent epidemic” of dental disease. Today, pediatric dental disease (severe tooth decay) remains the most prevalent chronic disease affecting children in America.

America’s ToothFairy: National Children’s Oral Health Foundation® was formed in 2006 to provide an aggressive collaborative response to eliminate children’s preventable suffering from pediatric dental disease. Through comprehensive efforts aimed at increasing oral health education and literacy, increasing access to care and preventive services, and promoting children’s overall health, America’s ToothFairy has distributed more than $17 million in community-based programs, educational materials, oral care products, and financial grants through our national network of partner clinics and programs.

The America’s ToothFairy Board of Directors is comprised of highly respected and dedicated leaders of national and international organizations, universities and corporations concerned with children’s well-being.

Our oral health programming is guided by the America’s ToothFairy Scientific Advisory Board, made up of internationally recognized academic and clinical leaders. In addition to representatives from the dental industry, the Scientific Advisory Board also includes leaders in medicine, nursing, pharmacy and public health.

Through strong partnerships with national and regional organizations, our network of non-profit clinical programs, and the mobilization of community stakeholders, America’s ToothFairy reached more than 1.9 million children and caregivers with vital oral health services last year.

Support from generous Corporate Underwriters provides operational and basic program expenses, allowing 100% of all other contributions to go directly to helping children in need.
